In August, Pierre and Andriana combined their passion for fitness and fashion to create a brand focused on high-quality, stylish performance activewear, and by November, they had relocated operations to Cape Town.

In January 2019, Burnt shipped its first products after opening pre-orders on 26 December 2018. By October, Burnt held its first pop-up in Stellenbosch, marking a modest yet significant step in response to the growing demand for a physical presence.

In January, Burnt Fit launched gym and home training programs. Despite COVID-19 challenges in February, Burnt thrived, as noted by co-founder Pierre. By September, Burnt moved to a new office and warehouse in Woodstock. October saw the hiring of their first employee, and November’s Black Friday chaos led to sales surpassing the first year’s total revenue by 1pm.

In January, Burnt launched Hope Exchange Feed5000, giving a meal to the less fortunate for every Black Friday order. July introduced the successful Active Jewellery line. By September, we moved to a larger warehouse, and in October, we leased our first retail store. November saw the launch of Burnt Run Clubs, with over 1,000 runners joining. By December, our team grew to 8.

In March, Burnt opened its first retail store in Stellenbosch, enhancing customer engagement. By April, we moved to a larger warehouse. August saw a successful Urban collection fashion show on Bree Street, Cape Town. In October, we opened a store in the V&A. By December, our team grew to 27, and we launched our first Men’s range.

In April, we opened our first store in Gauteng at Mall of Africa. By September, we moved into a new HQ, three times larger than before. November saw the opening of two stores in two days: Village Walk in Pretoria and Canal Walk in Cape Town. By December, our team grew to 60. As founder Pierre Cronje says, “There is no greater payout than the compounding interest on consistency.” Here’s to 2024.

In April, we secured an additional warehouse facility to handle larger shipments. In June, we opened two new retail stores in Johannesburg: Morningside Shopping Centre and Sandton City Mall. The Sandton City store is our first flagship location, showcasing a stunning new design. Toward the end of 2024 we opened two new stunning Burnt stores in Tygervalley and Castle Gate.

We opened the first ever Burnt Clubhouse. A curated space for athletes. We rolled out 4 more retail stores and revamped two of of our flagship locations. We launched on Superbalist, hosted our first ever highly successful pop-up store in Amsterdam, grew our run clubs to 13 locations worldwide and the Burnt team grew to 160+.
